New Bari owner Aurelio De Laurentiis assures he will not use the club to ‘feed’ Napoli but reveals Milan legends Arrigo Sacchi and Filippo Galli could assist him.

De Laurentiis has been tasked with leading Bari’s rebirth following their bankruptcy, and the Napoli President – never one to mince his words – also took the opportunity to take a swipe at Juventus and Lega Serie A.

“Bari will never be a feeder club for Naples, and to dispel this fear I’ve convinced my son Luigi, who has never been interested in football, to take an interest in Bari,” he told reporters.

“I’ve also asked Arrigo Sacchi to be a consultant and Filippo Galli to take care of the youth.

“For 20 years, the Lega hasn’t been able to pass a correct statute, but Micciche can change the situation. I trust him a lot.

“Personally I’m against reserve teams. They only help Juventus to flog their players. For me, an Under-23 League would be more useful.

“It would’ve let the likes of Rog and Diawara play more. For me, Serie C is a League that may cease to exist…”
