Alexis Sanchez‘s move from Arsenal to Manchester United depends on Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to the player’s agent.

The 29-year-old Chilean has been linked with a move to United with his contract at Arsenal running out at the end of the season, and Mkhitaryan is rumoured to be going the other way.

Mkhitaryan, 28, was left out of the United squad that beat Stoke City 3-0 on Monday and, according to Mino Raiola, a decision on his future will determine whether Sanchez moves to Old Trafford.

“Sanchez is part of Mkhi’s deal. Not the other way around,” Raiola told Sky Sports.

“Without him, Sanchez simply cannot go to United.

“Mkhi’s problems at Man Utd are purely related to playing football. He has no problem with the manager. It is not personal. And he has two and a half years left on his contract. He doesn’t have to leave.”

“This is a great deal for Arsenal. They need better, younger players and they have to invest. So it’s up to Arsenal to put a deal in place and right now a deal is a long way off.”

Mkhitaryan started the season off well for United, assisting five goals and scoring once in his first league five games. But the Armenian has failed to contribute to a goal for the club since September.

His manager Jose Mourinho has continually stated “every player has a price” when questioned about Mkhitaryan’s future and when asked if he could be traded for Sanchez after Monday’s game told Sky Sports: “He is a Manchester United player.

“He is a player I like and of high quality.

“Is he going to be involved in a deal to leave us? It is possible. But it is also possible that he stays. I am trying to protect him and the team. The market is open.

“I have a squad of 22 players and I want to keep a squad of 22 players.”

Could Mkhitaryan replace Sanchez at Arsenal?

Despite his poor run of form this season, Mkhitaryan has assisted more goals than wantaway Arsenal forward Sanchez.

Creating five goals for this United teammates, Mkhitaryan’s average of 0.49 assists per 90 minutes is significantly higher than Sanchez, who averages 0.18 per 90.

The Armenian’s assists have also come from fewer chances created with 2.72 per 90 to Sanchez’s 2.99.

However, Sanchez has had more success in beating opposing defenders, averaging 2.40 successful take-ons per 90 while Mkhitaryan has managed just 1.36 per 90.
