Anthony Martial

Jose Mourinho vs Anthony Martial

The updates keep coming regarding Anthony Martial’s ongoing future at Man United.

After Sunday’s night’s 0-0 draw with the San Jose Earthquakes, Jose Mourinho gave fresh updates on Martial.

The Frenchman has been tipped with an Old Trafford exit this summer. However Mourinho was keen to paint the picture that Martial is staying at the Theatre of Dreams.

Bayern Munich vs Chelsea

Paul Hirst, who is embedded with the Man United squad during their pre-season American tour, has since posted another update on Martial and Man United in the Times.

Hirst believes that Martial will be allowed to leave Man United under the right circumstances.

The first condition is that Martial doesn’t move to a direct rival. That rules out a Chelsea move, but it boosts Bayern Munich’s hope of getting a deal done:

Jose Mourinho is happy for Anthony Martial to leave Old Trafford if he wants to do so, but the Manchester United manager will block Chelsea’s attempt to sign the Frenchman by insisting he be sold to a foreign club instead.

Bayern Munich seem to be the most likely destination for Martial, but the German club would have to smash their present transfer record to sign him.

Sweetener for Manchester United

Bayern Munich would also need to put together a financial package to convince Man United to sell.

Hirst believes that Man United want “at least £60 million” for Martial.

That’s a huge outlay for Bayern Munich, and the Bavarians may cook up player plus cash deal package for the Red Devils:

To date, the most expensive transfer in Bayern’s history is the £37.35 million signing of Corentin Tolisso from Lyons. Bayern may try to offer Arturo Vidal, the Chilean playmaker, or the Germany defender Jerome Boateng as part of the deal.
