Arsenal are looking to revamp their squad this summer and on their list is young Saint-Etienne centre-back William Saliba, if the reports from Goal are to be believed.
What’s the story?
18-year-old defender Saliba is a name well known in the regions of Ligue 1 and it’s quite likely that it’ll be known beyond it in the near future.
Even though we are currently in the pure speculation stage of the transfer window, Arsenal are understood to have made Saliba a top target going into their summer spending endeavours as they look to revitalise an ageing squad, and it makes perfect sense.
Not only that but this chase for a young and talented player while cutting their losses and letting go of the icons of the past just might be the wake-up call their rivals need.
Paving the way for others
Many teams talk about rebuilds and starting from scratch all the time. They think they know how to do it and some even think they are doing it but most are still far from pulling the trigger.
The likes of Manchester United and Chelsea might already feel the finger is pointed towards them and in a way it is. But Arsenal, for all the mockery they experience from fans and pundits, are actually doing the right thing for once.

Getting rid of some of the big names and moving them on while already working on bold and young moves is something most clubs are too afraid to do. They often get stuck in an endless loop of big money spending and finishing below their desired spots on the table.
Arsenal though, are ready to undergo a major clear-out while targeting young talents like the £25million-rated French centre-back. Can the Gunners pull it off and show their rivals how it’s done? Reports thus far suggest they’ll be leading the way.
