The slow, drawn-out process that is the gradual announcement of the Ballon d’Or rankings is officially underway, as France Football feed out the results of the voting in increments.

Lionel Messi and Virgil van Dijk are the two runaway favourites to win the award, although Mo Salah, Sadio Mané and Cristiano Ronaldo may fancy their chances of upsetting the apple-cart and emerging as victorious outsiders.

The voting is announced from the bottom up, however, and so far we’ve got up to Sergio Aguero, who has been confirmed in 16th place.

The Arsenal star’s 22 Premier League goals last season earned him a share of the golden boot, while Tadic was instrumental in Ajax’s Eredivisie win and run to the Champions League final.

Spurs standout Son Heung-min comes in at 22nd, ahead of teammate Hugo Lloris who takes 23rd.

Also placed at this stage are Karim Benzema, Georginio Wijnaldum, Joao Felix, Marquinhos and Donny van de Beek.

We’ll be updating with results as they come – so hang with us!
