Lucas Vazquez and Benzema

Santiago Solari has placed his trust in Karim Benzema since he took over the Real Madrid coaching job, with the Frenchman having played more minutes than any other player under the Argentine.

He was second in this regard under Julen Lopetegui, but now he has moved ahead of Sergio Ramos and into first.

The striker has played every minute of Solari‘s LaLiga Santander matches against Real Valladolid, Celta Vigo, Eibar and Valencia and started the Champions League matches against Viktoria Plzen and Roma, even if he came off in the second halves of those European trips.

The only game he hasn’t taken part in was the Copa del Rey second leg against Melilla on Thursday.

With four goals and four assists under the Argentine, Benzema is showing he can score and be involved in link-up play.

He leads the line in the 4-3-3 system being used, but still makes himself available to those behind him.

“He’s outstanding in his position as he’s exquisite, very technical and he makes his teammates better,” Solari said of the No.9.

Benzema has similarly praised the coach, stating that the 42-year-old is very knowledgeable about football.
