Aston Villa supporters have been left dumbfounded by the FA’s decision to charge the club for failing to keep control of its players during last Sunday’s Second City derby.

It was a game which involved a host of emotions, no less so than when Jack Grealish was shockingly punched by a supporter. However, Birmingham players reacted justly to the situation by consoling the Villa man. The same player then threw himself into the crowd after scoring the winner, but both clubs have now been hit by FA charges.
Villa fans are baffled that their club has been punished, slamming the FA for what they feel is an injustice. The reaction on Twitter was scathing, with individuals laying into English football’s governing body, calling them corrupt and out of touch.
Words continued to be thrown in the direction of the FA who were branded penny pinchers by one Villans fan as another suggested they’d completely missed the point.
Much of the debate centred around the incident involving Grealish as supporters failed to see no reason why he couldn’t celebrate in the nature he did after being assaulted.
However, there was some praise for Birmingham, despite being rivals, with some of the reaction hailing both sets of players’ conduct by commenting that there had barely been any confrontation.
Earlier this week, a Blues supporter was jailed for 14 weeks following the Grealish attack.
Here is the best of the reaction from the vocal Villa Park faithful…
The fa really have no idea. How can they charge both clubs for not controlling there players, from what I witnessed there was hardly any confrontation between both sets of players. The fa are really out of touch with the game

Both sets of players really did themselves proud and then for this to happen shows the FA is a joke

??? The FA are corrupt

What!?!? As a villa fan I can’t see why either club are being charged, the players all things considered were very professional. The stadium management and stewarding etc was the issue. Birmingham as a club/business should be charged but I’d have said that was fairly obvious…

All the players Birmingham and Villa were in pretty good control in that match. What is the FA thinking.

How ridiculous is this? What Jack can’t celebrate with our fans after being assaulted ? Bad enough he got a yellow card under the circumstances without the Villa being punished too. About time they sorted BCFC ffp penalty promptly or is that me being biased but fair?

A man attacked one of our players, were they expecting us to just stand there and not react? FA penny pinching as per

FA missing the point completely again. Players should be applauded for their behaiviour on Sun really. Bad tackle in first 5 mins but no major reaction, player got booked, Jack got up. Move on. FA need to deal with the actual issues, but I guess that would require some backbone
