Alfredo Morelos only joined Rangers last year from HJK Helsinki, but he could be about to sign a new and improved contract.

Just five months ago, the forward agreed fresh terms, but after he attracted interest from elsewhere, the club are keen to tie him down.

According to BBC Sport, Ligue 1 side Bordeaux made a £3.75m offer for the 22-year-old, but it was rejected by Rangers.

While speaking to the media, manager Steven Gerrard described the bid as “derisory” and insisted that any potential suitor would have to come up with a staggering figure to convince the Gers to do a deal.

The former Liverpool captain went on to say that he wants Morelos to pen a new deal rather than look elsewhere.

Since joining Rangers, the young attacker has been a positive addition by scoring 15 Scottish Premiership goals and created six assists.

Judging by the reaction on Twitter, plenty of Rangers fans believe that Gerrard is making the right call with regards to the forward’s future.
