Fiorentina will start their pre-season two days earlier than previously planned, potentially indicating they expect to be in the Europa League.

The Viola would replace Milan in the competition if, as expected, the Rossoneri are given a European ban for breaching Financial Fair Play.

Milan finished sixth in Serie A, which qualifies them automatically for the group stage of the competition.

However, if they’re banned that would see Atalanta enter the group stages and Fiorentina in the second qualifying round, with the first leg on July 26.

Today the Viola have confirmed the players will report for pre-season on Monday July 2, before heading to their training camp in Moena on the Saturday.

That is two days earlier than previously scheduled, which may indicate they’re giving themselves extra time to prepare for the Europa League.
