We think it’s fair to say that Queen’s Park endured a fairly wretched old night in the Scottish League Cup on Tuesday.

Not only were the League Two side knocked out by Saint Mirren on penalties, they were also forced to report not one, but two mid-game deaths over the course of the evening.

With the score locked at 0-0 as the tie ticked over into the 90th minute, the Queen’s Park social media team emitted a particularly grim live update that seemed to encapsulate the match entirely…

The death and disaster didn’t end there though, with the club soon forced to announce a second death after the conclusion of the penalty shootout, which St Mirren won 5-4.

Indeed, one of The Spiders’ famous Hampden Park pigeons bit the dust in mysterious circumstances…

As the old saying goes, you wait an age for one lifeless animal carcass to be dumped on your football pitch and two come along at once.

Remind us to steer clear of the Scottish League Cup preliminary rounds in future.

Death awaits all who go there.
