Serie A The Argentine spoke about his happiness
Gonzalo Higuain feels reborn again at Juventus after difficult loan spells in the 2018/19 season for AC Milan and Chelsea.
The striker marked his return to the Old Lady with an impressive performance in his first two matches, particularly against former side and rivals Napoli.
After a positive start to the season, the Argentinian striker spoke of his happiness to be back at his parent club.
“Last season was not easy. I am happy to be at Juventus,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“When I returned, nobody told me anything. I returned to work, to demonstrate my quality.
“I wanted to return to Juventus from day one. I feel good and happy,” Higuain said.
After a pulsating 4-3 victory against Napoli, Higuain explained how the biggest rival is in fact themselves and not the likes of Milan, Roma or the side they just beat.
“Juventus’ great rival is Juventus itself,” he said.
“Juventus must follow this path.
“This is the way to reach our goals, having confidence in ourselves.”
Now, following a reunion with Cristano Ronaldo and taking the No.21 shirt to remember his daughter’s birth, Higuain looks forward to the season ahead in the Champions League.
“It’s the nicest competition to play.”
“When I played with Cristiano in Madrid, he was younger. Now, he is a more complete player. I am happy to return to play with him.
“I decided to leave the No.9 and choose No.21 because my daughter was born that day.
“It’s a way to always take her with me. It was a heartfelt decision that, for the moment, is bringing me luck,” added Higuain.
