Marco Silva may still officially be the Everton manager but that has not stopped supporters from discussing a handful of candidates who could replace him.

The Merseyside derby could well seal the Portuguese manager’s fate amid growing uncertainty over his future, but who exactly will Everton appoint in his place?

Following the dismissal of Mauricio Pochettino from Spurs, the more ambitious Everton supporters of this world are daring to dream and transcending into a realm of optimism – or, perhaps, complete fantasy fiction.

But without sounding like a clichéd broken record – cue cliché – stranger things have happened in football.

And with Pochettino’s future seemingly up in the air, a recent report from Fox Sports has layered the intrigue amongst the Toffees faithful.

The former Spurs chief has claimed he is “open to listen to projects put before me,” and that quote in particular has prompted supporters to demand their club show some ambition.

But despite all the calls for ambition from the supporters, there was one fan who was eager to bring the fans back down to earth with a sharp dose of reality.

No arguments from me, Robbie. Marcel Brands’ next move in the managerial market, if and when Silva leaves the club, needs to be both progressive and ambitious.

An up-and-coming name could well be on the agenda, but it’s fair to say Pochettino has long left that label behind.

However, there were still a handful of other Everton fans who suggested the Argentine should be on the agenda, while one appeared to loosely share Robbie’s sentiment by concluding that Moyes’ successor should have matched a similar profile to Pochettino.
