Sorry Steve, I’m just not buying it.
I am going to cut to the chase and say my short, but frank opinion, on Steve Bruce taking over as manager of Newcastle United…You are not welcome. Don’t take it personally because I can’t think of a manager out there that is welcome.
Of course, I only speak for myself but I am sure there are fans who will agree with me – while I am also positive that there are fans out there who would suggest we don’t blame Steve Bruce at all for wanting to take on the job at Newcastle United.
Tell me, why would you want to join a football club with no ambition, no board, one of the worst owners in English football, the worst managing director in English football, a team with sub-standard training facilities, a failed academy, a weak squad that has already lost its top goalscorer and player of the year from last season, a transfer structure that is out of your control, very little money to spend, a hostile fanbase… and that’s just off the top of my head!
On top of that, why would you go and work for a man that has systematically destroyed the football club you apparently support?
What is clear is that Steve Bruce doesn’t have any ambition either – after all, he is going to work for Mike Ashley. I think the only thing that could make me understand someone taking over at Newcastle United is if it was a golden opportunity for a young manager from the lower leagues or a ‘lesser’ European nation… or if the manager in question was absolutely skint and needed the money to put food on the table.
Those are the only two scenarios I would deem as ‘understandable’ for taking the Newcastle United job and agreeing to work for Mike Ashley and Lee Charnley.
I have seen so-called journalists in the press write that Steve Bruce is a nice bloke.
Great! So what? Have I missed something here?
I’m not anti-Steve Bruce. He was in the same class at school as my Aunt, his younger brother was in the same class as my Dad – to be honest, I have only ever heard nice things about Steve Bruce.
However, Steve, you are supposed to be a Geordie and a Newcastle United fan? One of us?
So why are you going to work as a yes man for Mike Ashley? I would love to know the answer to that question because it doesn’t make any sense in my head.
I wrote not too long ago that any manager with an ounce of self-respect for themselves would not take this job. I stand corrected.
On top of that, no true Geordie would take this job.
Steve, if you were a Geordie, a true Geordie, and if you were a Newcastle United fan, then you would release a statement saying why you have turned down the Newcastle job because you don’t want to degrade yourself by working under Mike Ashley for a club that used to be called Newcastle United.
If you were a Geordie, a true Geordie, a Newcastle United fan… you wouldn’t join this regime.
