Thomas Partey has come in for criticism in recent weeks, but the Ghanaian didn’t let it get him down and he bounced back with a solid showing away to Valencia on Friday.

Neither his failed attempts to break the lines with passing nor his accumulated yellow cards putting him just one away from suspension held him back or caused his head to drop at the Mestalla.

He proved his importance again, showing great vision, intelligence, and physicality as well.

Thomas didn’t hesitate to press Dani Parejo and the rest of his Valencia teammates when he could, and he was rewarded for that with a fine goal himself before the break.

The strike was his third of the season, and his 11th for Atletico Madrid.
