Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita, who briefly held the club’s record transfer fee after signing from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in 2017 for a mammoth £48m, knocking former flop Andy Carroll off his perch, is on the precipice of slumping into obscurity if he doesn’t start to perform.
Keita has recorded just three goals and one assist in 36 appearances for Klopp’s title-chasing side and has seen his opportunities in the first team limited this term by injuries.

In a midfield that currently consists of Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum, the latter of whom being the only real offensive-minded player, unless you count former attacking midfielder Henderson, the Reds are crying out for a talent like Keita to really add some dynamism to the middle of the park.
He bagged 12 goals and eight assists in his final season in the Bundesliga.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Anfield legend Jamie Carragher had his say on Liverpool current midfield and what to expect from Keita…
“I think they just have a top class midfield rather than world class.”
“They’re still waiting for Keita to take off.”
“They’ve got to give him a good 12 months to see what Keita can bring.”@Carra23 on #LFC‘s midfield. ? pic.twitter.com/JSvqKSTZv3
