Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has this afternoon provided a fitness update on his squad, ahead of tomorrow night’s Merseyside derby.
Liverpool vs Everton
The European champions are set to welcome Everton to Anfield in a little over 24 hours’ time, for a Premier League clash.
The two sides, though, will head into proceedings in altogether-varying recent spells of form.
Everton have fallen to defeats in their last two outings, versus Norwich and Leicester City.
The latter of these came in heartbreaking fashion at the King Power this past Sunday, when the Toffees fell to a last-minute Kelechi Iheanacho winner.
Liverpool, on the other hand, have dropped just 2 league points all season, and are currently in the midst of a 5-game win streak.
As a result, as things stand, the Reds are sitting pretty atop the Premier League table, 8 points clear of 2nd-placed Leicester City.
And, speaking ahead of his side’s latest test tomorrow night, Jurgen Klopp this afternoon provided a fitness update on his squad.
The Liverpool boss confirmed that the only absentee of note is defender Joel Matip, who is continuing his recovery from a knee issue:
‘Joel needs a bit more time, it’s healing but it’s not exactly how we wished for.’
‘It needs a bit more time, so that will take a while.’
‘The rest are fit. The long-term injuries not in, but all the others are fit and available.’

Tomorrow’s Merseyside showdown will actually come as the first of two such derbies in the space of a month at Anfield, after last night’s FA Cup 3rd-round draw saw Liverpool and Everton pitted against one another for the 2nd time in 3 years.
