Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed why new signing Alisson Becker is set to make his debut following his big-money move from AS Roma.
The Reds shelled out an awful lot of money to sign the Brazilian goalkeeper, roughly £67million, and fans are excited to see him in action.
He has yet to play for the side due to his involvement with the Brazil national team at the World Cup in Russia over the summer.
Now, he’s in training with the club and is set to feature in their game against Napoli this weekend.
The German boss explained in an interview with Liverpool’s official website that it is ‘pretty likely’ he will make his debut this weekend.
“It’s pretty likely [he’ll make his debut]. We should not waste time,” he explained.
“Then it’ll be nearly a week, or six days in training, since he [started] and yes, he will play.
“I’m very pleased [to be able to work with him], but first of all, it’s very important he can start now because the season starts in one and half weeks. Each player in the world needs training and time to adapt to his mates.
“We have two games to do that before we start, so it’s really good.
“He obviously has a real presence, he’s smart, he’s very nice and it’s good to have him around.
“It’s only positive, even the performances in training – which is not too important in the beginning – are already exceptional, so all good.”
