Sergio Ramos

Real Madrid allowed captain Sergio Ramos to extend his summer break for the second year in a row, a decision that not all at Los Blancos are comfortable with.

While the defender had the permission of the coaching staff, the differential treatment hasn’t gone down well in some sectors of the club.

Ramos’ Spain teammates Isco, Marco Asensio, Lucas Vazquez and Nacho returned from their holidays on July 25 and July 26, while Dani Carvajal joined up with the squad on July 29.

Yet he didn’t return to work until August 1, the day after the match against Manchester United.

His importance at Real Madrid is undeniable and he commands total respect in the dressing room, but not all are comfortable with the situation.

What’s important now is that Ramos is back and he’ll be focussed on getting his teammates ready for the UEFA Super Cup clash with Atletico Madrid on August 15.
