Chelsea were unable to fight off the advances of Real Madrid for goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in the summer, yet they were able to keep Eden Hazard at Stamford Bridge for at least another season.
It’s no secret that Hazard has long wished to move to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and it appeared as though Cristiano Ronaldo‘s departure could finally facilitate a transfer, however it never came to pass in the summer months.
Asked during a Belgium press conference if he’d be making a move in January, he said he wouldn’t.
“No, [not in January],” he explained to Sky Sports News.
When pressed on his desire to win the Ballon d’Or, the 27-year-old was quick to point out that this was one of the reasons why he might one day favour a move away.
“That’s why I want to go, maybe,” he said.
He also stated that he considers himself the best player in the world.
“Yes, [I’m the best player in the world], but you can always improve in football by scoring more goals and creating more assists,” he confirmed.
So far this season, he has already scored seven Premier League goals, as well as contributing three assists.
