Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is scheduled to join Serie A side Napoli before the Italian transfer window closes on Friday.
The Belgium international is desperate for regular gametime during the ongoing campaign and he is eyeing a fresh challenge after falling behind Alisson Becker and Loris Karius in the pecking order.
According to The Mirror, the Naples outfit are expected to finalise a deal for Mignolet before Friday, making the Belgian eligible for their season opener against Lazio.
Napoli had recruited Alex Meret on loan from Udinese to fill the void left by Pepe Reina‘s departure but the Italian unfortunately broke his arm in just the second day of pre-season.
Mignolet has been with Liverpool since the summer of 2013 and during this period, he has racked 200 appearances for the Merseysiders across all competitions.
He fell out-of-favour under Jurgen Klopp during the backend of the previous campaign and he is now officially their third-choice goalkeeper, though his association with the club should end in the next 48 hours.
