Mo Salah after Liverpool goal vs Manchester City

Manchester City are favourites

Manchester City are the Premier League title favourites.

That’s according to Jamie Redknapp, who thinks that they are going to retain the title.

However, he noted that Liverpool are going to be able to challenge City – and that they have to do one thing.

Said thing is making sure that they don’t throw away points they should be winning.

He said to Sky Sports: Manchester City are the outstanding favourites still, of course. They’re a fantastic side and I feel like they will still come out on top. But Liverpool are in contention.

There’s a lot of talk about them having to make up a 25-point deficit on Man City from last year but remember Man City had to make up a big deficit on Chelsea from the season before. The challenge for Liverpool will be ensuring they don’t throw away points needlessly.

Liverpool’s year

Redknapp elaborated, and made it clear he thinks the club need to grind out results.

It can’t always be easy and a great home win, and Redknapp thinks that is something Klopp needs to make sure his side are able to do.

Liverpool are know for their great football – but that’s not all they’re going to need in order to beat Man City to the title.

Redknapp added: They had seven draws at home last season and they need to find a way to edge those close games if they are really going to push City.

At times Liverpool play such good football and it feels like they’re looking for the perfect goal – but often it’s the ugly goals that are the crucial ones, earning you those scruffy three points when you haven’t been on top form.
