Nabil Fekir

Liverpool & West Ham

It’s already been superb transfer windows for Liverpool and West Ham.

Has any team in the Premier League signed better players than Liverpool this off-season?

The Reds have signed a group of incredible players. They’ve now got Alisson in goal, Fabinho and Nabu Keita in midfield, and Xherdan Shaqiri further forward.

And West Ham? The Hammers have also spent a load of money trying to improve their squad.

Felipe Anderson has joined the club from Lazio, while Jack Wilshere has moved from Arsenal.

Andriy Yarmolenko, Fabian Balbuena, Lukasz Fabianski and Issa Diop have also joined West Ham.

Nabil Fekir & Marcelo

Yet it’s beginning to seem unlikely that Nabil Fekir will be joining Liverpool, or that Marcelo will be joining West Ham from Lyon.

According to French daily Le Progres, Lyon are planning to lock Fekir and Marcelo down to new deals.

It’s been reported that Lyon have launched a ‘seduction operation’ to convince Fekir to remain at the club. Lyon have reportedly offered Fekir a “very nice contract extension proposal”.

At the same time, Brazilian defender Marcelo is also in line for a new OL deal. With West Ham lurking, OL are offering Marcelo a 50% pay-hike on his salary.

Lyon’s Jean-Michel Aulas keeps on talking

Over the weekend, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas also gave an update on Fekir.

Aulas is confident the French World Cup winner is staying put:

I do not think that Fekir will leave. He’s one of the best in France – and in the world, since he’s a world champion. He’s a Lyonais, so he’ll be there next season.

But then Aulas dropped the caveats:

Although in football, nothing is ever certain. I haven’t had the impression that he absolutely wants to leave.

He’s 90% going to be at Lyon next season. If he hasn’t left by the end of July, he’ll stay.

It’s not the size of the offer that will make us change our position on Fekir, but the wishes of Nabil himself.
