United are currently playing San Jose Earthquakes, their second pre-season friendly of the summer in their tour of the US.

Jose Mourinho was without a host of his key stars for their 1-1 draw with Club America earlier this week with the likes of David De Gea and Fred on holiday following their World Cup exploits.

But the pair look set to return for United’s next match against AC Milan on Wednesday.

Alexis Sanchez starts for the Red Devils this evening having missed the first game due to visa issues and Mourinho is glad he is soon to be reunited with his full squad.

“He (Sanchez) worked with us before he travelled to the US, we left a fitness coach behind with him he did individual training and he kept his level of fitness now it’ s time for him to play 45-65 minutes today,” Mourinho said.

“It’s not to impress me (Chong and Garner) it’s to develop it’s good for them.

“If we play all the kids at the same time they would be in trouble I have to start a couple here and there and to start in a team with a certain structure and level of experience. It’s a good experience for them.

“With intensity and physicality we watched a couple of matches to have an idea. They try to play football and play out from the back. Another good experience for us.

“Everything is good and Matic is in the hotel in LA waiting for us, a couple of days and David De Gea and Fred are arriving.

“Step by step we are making the squad ready for the opening day of the Premier League season.

Tahith Chong is looking to follow up his impressive cameo appearance off the bench against Club America with another good showing tonight, while 17-year-old James Garner makes his unofficial debut for the Red Devils.

Manchester United’s starting XI: J Pereira, Valencia, Bailly, Smalling, Shaw, Herrera, Garner, A Pereira, Chong, Martial, Sanchez.
