Jose Mourinho confirmed that Anthony Martial, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling are all injury doubts ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Fulham on Saturday.
The 55-year-old will expect Smalling, a regular in the team, to make himself fit for the game to accompany Marcos Rojo – who was, barring one big mistake, excellent against Arsenal – in defence amid an injury crisis.
He will, as a result, most likely switch to a back four, bringing back the suspended Ashley Young while playing Romelu Lukaku ahead of Martial.
Here is how we think Man United will line up for the meeting with Claudio Ranieri’s side this weekend.
Supporters will, no doubt, want to see Martial, who has seven Premier League goals in as many games, start once again but you wouldn’t bank against Mourinho moving him to the bench like he did against Southampton.
Diogo Dalot should be one of the first names on the team-sheet. The youngster was described as “fantastic” against Arsenal by Mourinho following a performance packed with soul and grit. Now feels like the time for the Portuguese to start properly making that right-back spot his own at Old Trafford.
Marcus Rashford was another who played like a ‘mad-dog’ against Arsenal, and will be expected to offer the same commitment down the left against the newly promoted West London side.
