Vinicius has been one of the best performers for Real Madrid over the past few seasons, but Kiki Musampa has pointed out that the player’s spark and energy may not last forever.
The former Ajax, Malaga and Atletico Madrid player used the example of Robinho to make the point that some youngsters start well and flame out.
“Yes and no,” he said when asked if Vinicius has stood out to him during an interview with Radio MARCA.
“He’s young and you notice this in his play.
“He still has things to develop, but he did only just arrive.
“I have seen with young players that they often have a lot of spark and desire and they do a lot just after arriving.
“That’s good, but we’ll see how it goes in four or five months or next season and we’ll see if he plays at the same level and with the same hunger.
“For example, I remember other players who came like Robinho, who was very good at the start.
“I want to see Vinicius later and see if he keeps up this level and if he gets better.”
Musampa, who knows Ajax well and who won the Champions League with them in 1995, went on to discuss Real Madrid‘s Wednesday night opponents.
“Real Madrid are better than Ajax right now,” he said.
“There’s always a possibility of Ajax winning, but Real Madrid are in good form.
“They’re winning matches and playing well.”
The match between the Dutch and Spanish side kicks off at 21:00 CET on Wednesday evening.
