Nottingham Forest are shaping up for a promotion push ahead of the new Championship season, after bringing in 10 new faces to the City Ground and breaking their transfer record to sign midfielder Joao Carvalho from Benfica for £13m.

According to the Nottingham Post, Forest manager Aitor Karanka is also hopeful that West Ham right-back Sam Byram will join the club this week. The 24-year-old is surplus to requirements at the London Stadium following the arrival of Ryan Fredericks from Fulham, although it is yet to be seen whether a deal for Byram would be permanent or on loan.

Valued at £3.6m by Transfermarkt, Byram played 134 times for Leeds before making the move to West Ham in January 2016. Unfortunately for the Englishman he has made only 36 appearances for the East London side since then and now might be the perfect time for him to drop back down to the Championship.

Forest fans have certainly been hoping that Byram will sign and that he is the final piece in the puzzle for Karanka. Check out some of their best tweets below.
