The excitement of the transfer window is ramping up following the culmination of the World Cup earlier this week. Time is also running out for Premier League clubs, with the period set to close earlier than usual – before the beginning of the upcoming season.
Here is a handy roundup of some of today’s biggest rumours regarding moves to and from English top flight sides.
5. Swansea Hold Talks With Man City Over Move for Winger
Swansea City are reported as having held talks with Premier League champions Manchester City over a move for winger Bersant Celina. The Kosovo-Albanian starlet spent last season on loan at Ipswich Town, scoring eight goals in 38 outings and has caught the eye of Swansea scouts.
According to Wales Online, the Swans are hoping to complete a deal for the player, who could cost them a sum in the region of £4m.
4. Leicester Striker Set for Sporting CP Return After Newcastle Drop Interest
Leicester City striker Islam Slimani will be returning to Sporting CP following an unfruitful spell in England, per Record .
The Algerian attacker joined Leicester two summers ago but failed to prove his worth at the King Power Stadium. He was loaned to Newcastle back in January, however an injury suffered whilst still at Leicester blighted his time at St James’ Park.
He is now set for a return to Portugal, with the Magpies passing up on the chance to sign him permanently, having refused to pay the Foxes’ asking price of £25m. Sporting are also unable to cough up the amount, but they will be taking the player on a season-long loan deal, as the aforementioned source would have it.
3. Fenerbahce Hold Talks With Chelsea Over Move for Kurt Zouma
The French centre-back spent last season on loan with Stoke City but could be nearing another move this summer, with Turkish-Football.com reporting that Fenerbahce have made an approach.
The outlet claims a source have told them that Fener’s director of football Damien Comolli has held direct talks with Chelsea regarding the player, who could make a switch before the close of the window.
2. Wolves Rebuffed in Bid for Milan’s Andre Silva But Loan Deal Still Possible
AC Milan sporting director Massimo Mirabelli has confirmed that Wolverhampton Wanderers were among clubs who’ve made bids for Portuguese attacker Andre Silva this summer, according to O Jogo .
All offers so far have been spurned, but Mirabelli hasn’t ruled out a loan move for the player, who was unable to inspire much confidence at the San Siro last season.
With Nicola Kalinic nearing a move to Atletico Madrid, Silva should find opportunities forthcoming if he remains with I Rossoneri this summer. But manager Gennaro Gattuso will assess the player in training before any decision is made.
1. Fulham Up Offer for Espanyol Star David Lopez After First Bid Is Rejected
Newly promoted Fulham are not giving up on Espanyol midfielder David Lopez as they seek to strengthen their squad to Premier League standard ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.
Mundo Deportivo report that Slavisa Jokanovic’s side saw a €15m bid rejected by the Catalans, but have since upped the ante to €20m for the former Napoli man.
