Real Madrid Face Levante and PSG after Modric’s injury

Luka Modric has picked up a muscle injury which will sideline him for up to 15 days and Zinedine Zidane will have to change his plans for the upcoming games against Levante and Paris Saint-Germain.

Only Toni Kroos is 100 percent fit at the moment, with Isco still injured and James Rodriguez coming out of his own injury.

Meanwhile, Casemiro will only participate in one training session before Saturday’s match and Fede Valverde comes back to Europe after having played two games with Uruguay in the international break.

Zidane‘s idea for the game against Levante was to rest the Brazilian, who featured in both Selecao’s encounters against Colombia and Peru, by placing Modric and Kroos in the middle third.

Now, however, he must choose between Casemiro and Valverde to play alongside the German, ahead of Real Madrid‘s Champions League opener against PSG on Wednesday.

In France, should Zidane opt for a 4-4-2 formation, Gareth Bale and Lucas Vazquez will play with Kroos and Casemiro in the midfield, with Karim Benzema and Eden Hazard upfront.

Modric‘s injury has alarmed Real Madrid, who have accumulated as many as eight muscular injuries – and 11 in total – since the start of the pre-season.

Following Dani Ceballos‘ and Marcos Llorente‘s departures last summer, Los Blancos have been left with four pure midfielders, as Zidane‘s primary transfer target Paul Pogba remained at Manchester United.
