Atletico Madrid Fee could total 60 million euros
Rodrigo Moreno’s imminent arrival at Atletico Madrid will be the icing on the cake that their squad has become this summer, with Miguel Angel Gil Marin, Andrea Berta and Diego Simeone working hard to replace the stars who were lost.
MARCA reported on Monday that the player had become an alternative option to James Rodriguez, and now his confirmation is only a matter of hours away.
Rodrigo, to the surprise of Marcelino and Mateu Alemany, said his goodbyes to his Valencia teammates and the club’s staff, announcing that he was on his way to Madrid for a medical prior to signing at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano.
Los Che’s general director was at the complex at the time and, although his initial hope was to scare Atleti away, the player and Peter Lim‘s willingness to accommodate the move saw him change his tune, even acknowledging upon his departure from the club’s offices that there was news to come.
In spite of everything, Monday morning ended without an agreement, which meant that Alemany had to front up to the media to say that there was nothing in place and that Rodrigo wasn’t on his way to join Los Rojiblancos, putting his absence from training down to an “internal issue”.
But now, although some details still need to be ironed out, the forward could make his move for a total of 60 million euros, which is a figure that is likely to come with a number of variables.
Rodrigo, meanwhile, is awaiting the green light to pass his medical and put pen to paper.
