Sami Khedira wants Juventus to sign Emre Can from Liverpool this summer.

The 23-year-old Reds midfielder is out of contract in six months and the Italian champions are said to hold a strong interest in signing the Germany international to bolster their squad.

Since making his £9.75m move to Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen back in 2014, Can has made 106 appearances and has been started in the league 15 times this season by boss Jurgen Klopp.

With Can yet to agree fresh terms at Anfield and able to leave on a free transfer this summer, Khedira has urged his club to do whatever they can to sign the player to further strengthen a Juventus side that currently sit second in the Italian Serie A league table behind Napoli.

Khedira, 30, told Sky Sports Italia: “I’d jump at the chance.

“I know Emre Can him well, he’s young but he’s also very powerful and very talented.”

Although Khedira admits Can has room to improve, he acknowledges the ability and potential his international teammate could offer the Old Lady.

The 2014 World Cup winner added: “He still must learn things and grow, given his age, but if I were Juventus, I’d jump at the chance to sign him. He’ll be free from his contract.”

Can would represent another high-profile departure for a team that lost star player Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in a £145m move this month.

Can has played in 17 out of Liverpool’s 22 Premier League games so far this season.

However, with a midfield including club captain Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Georginio Wijnaldum, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Adam Lallana and with RB Leipzig No.8 Naby Keita to join this summer, the former Bayern Munich and Leverkusen player’s departure would not leave Klopp disastrously short of options.

Liverpool next play Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.
