Serie A now boasts the three most prolific strikers currently in activity: Cristiano Ronaldo, Gonzalo Higuain and Edin Dzeko.

The new season is set to kick off next weekend in Italy and the arrival of CR7 to Juventus for €100m plus bonuses tips the scales in Europe too.

La Gazzetta dello Sport calculated that the Italian league now has the most combined career goals in their top three forwards.

Ronaldo alone provides 395 competitive strikes, with new Milan signing Higuain on 218 and Roma’s Dzeko following on 169.

This gives Serie A the combined score of 782 goals, superior to 732 for La Liga, the Bundesliga’s 544, Premier League on 528 and Ligue 1 just 436.

The top three most prolific players in La Liga are Lionel Messi (383), Luis Suarez (179) and Karim Benzema (170).

The Premier League has Sergio Aguero (217), Jermain Defoe (162) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (149).

Claudio Pizarro is the most prolific player currently in the Bundesliga on 194 goals, with Robert Lewandowski (180) and Mario Gomez (170).

Ligue 1 brings up the rear with Edinson Cavani (228), Radamel Falcao (107) and Nice’s Italy international Mario Balotelli (101).
