Coach Quique Setien admits he didn’t expect Real Betis “would take four points off Milan” in the Europa League group, but they were “superior” overall.

Suso’s free kick cancelled out an early Giovani Lo Celso strike for the 1-1 result.

As Betis won 2-1 at San Siro, this keeps the Spaniards a point clear of Milan and Olympiacos at the top of the group.

“I think we put in a good performance,” said Setien in his Press conference.

“It was an excellent first half, their substitutions hurt us in the second, but we re-organised and I don’t think we were ultimately under that much pressure.

“We deserved to score more than one goal in the first half and wasted at least another couple, but the strong 20-25 minutes Milan had just recharged our batteries. We tried to win the game and had more chances late on with Tello and Junior.

“We’re satisfied with the draw, because it keeps us in first place and allows us to be optimistic going into the final two matches. When the group was drawn up, it was difficult to imagine Betis would take four points off Milan.

“We were superior to Milan during this group stage, now we face an Olympiacos side that has won 19 out of its last 22 domestic titles, so we must be wary. If they are on a good day, then they can beat us.”
