According to the new updates coming from ESPN, Inter Milan are seriously interested in Barcelona’s Arturo Vidal. But they might also face some competition from Manchester United who were recently revealed as another potential suitor.
What’s the word, then?
It seems that Inter Milan will be fighting for much more than just their Champions League hopes next week when Barcelona come into town.
As the same source reports, they will use the opportunity to try and work on a deal to bring Vidal into their club and that has Blaugrana already rattled.

The Chilean midfielder was described as a “special” player by the club officials who talked to ESPN and it seems that losing him would be a big blow for the Catalans.
This is even more reinforced by the fact Manchester United have also taken a liking to the 32-year-old veteran.
But with Antonio Conte hungry for success and the Nerazzurri’s ambitions both in Serie A and the Champions League, Vidal might be the secret ingredient that gives them the necessary push.
The missing link
By this point, it’s no secret that Conte, despite completing a number of signings last summer, is not really satisfied with his current personnel.
After all, he said so himself in an infamous outburst after the loss to Borussia Dortmund in Europe, when he practically cried out for further reinforcements (per Mediaset via Metro):
“Apart from [Diego] Godin no one has won anything. Who do I have to ask more from? Do I ask Nicolo Barella who came from Cagliari? Sensi who came from Sassuolo?”
And Vidal definitely seems to be exactly what he needs.
He might be 32 but he’s a proven winner – having played in a plethora of top teams across Europe and winning a total of 11 domestic league titles – and his mentality and warrior-like spirit could make the Nerazzurri go the extra mile.
At Barcelona, they see Vidal as someone special and one of their natural leaders (quoted by ESPN):
“He has something special that makes the character spread to the rest of the team. He always gives a plus to the squad, both in training and in matches. Together with Gerard Pique and Luis Suarez, they are the team’s natural leaders.”
Needless to say, Conte should be satisfied with such a scoop if it were to happen.
ESPN also report that Inter might bid a sum of €18m (£15.3m) to land their man, which, when everything is said and done, is not really a huge figure.
Should Manchester United sign Arturo Vidal?
Manchester United, however, might be alert to this situation and it would surely be in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s best interests to try and pursue the 32-year-old midfielder himself.
With the Red Devils struggling in the Premier League, a bit of leadership and character in that midfield could do their squad wonders.
