Mainz 05 forward Anthony Ujah has showered encomium on teammate Robin Quaison after assisting him for his matchwinning goal against Stuttgart on Sunday.
Quaison outmuscled Holger Badstuber to set up the second-half substitute who slotted home to help Rouven Schroder’s men start their 2018-19 Bundesliga campaign on a winning note.
Prior to the game, the forward has failed to score in 12 fixtures across all competitions since he rejoined the 05ers from Chinese side Liaoning Kaixin in January.
The former Werder Bremen admitted that his Swede teammate left him with little or no stress in putting the ball in the net.
“I think the goal belongs to [Robin] Quaison because he made life difficult for Badstuber and he made him very uncomfortable,” Ujah said after the game.
“At the end he got the ball on his feet and I just needed to show him where, which position I have to be to score and luckily he found me.
“Also there was a bit of luck with the goal because the defender made a contact but at the end, a goal is a goal.”
Ujah will hope to continue with the form when Maniz 05 travel to Max-Morlock-Stadion for a date with Nurnberg in their next league game on September 1.
