Liverpool were forced to settle for a point at home to Napoli on Wednesday evening, meaning that they have still not guaranteed their place in the last 16 heading into the final game of the group. The side struggled to click into gear for much of the game, with Napoli earning a deserved 1-1 draw.

There were signs early on that this might not be the Reds’ night. While Liverpool’s front three often grab the headlines, one of their best performers this season has been Fabinho, therefore, it was no surprise that there was concern on social media when he was withdrawn inside the opening 20 minutes with an apparent ankle injury.

Despite their hugely impressive start to the season, Liverpool have found clean sheets hard to come by during the 2019/20 campaign, particularly at home. In fact their run of 11 games without a clean sheet is the worst for the club since 1998…

It has been difficult to pick holes in the current league leaders in recent months, but their inability to keep out opposition attacks may be starting to become a slight concern for Jurgen Klopp.

Yet while their defence may have a few questions to answer for Napoli’s goal, it was one of the back four that got them back into the game. Dejan Lovren produced a fine second half display, capping it off with a powerful header to get Liverpool back on level terms.

The veteran centre back was widely praised online for his contribution to Liverpool’s comeback, as the side showed their character once more here.
