Liverpool’s first pre-season friendly could feature both of our marquee summer signings to date, reports the Echo.

Naby Keita and Fabinho are likely to play against Chester at the Swansway Stadium on July 7.

It’s mad that the new season, or at least preparations for it, have come around so quickly – but we suppose it feels like there’s been less of a break due to Liverpool reaching the Champions League Final and the distraction of the World Cup.

Supporters were hoping Nabil Fekir would have been confirmed along with the two midfielders, but as of yet, Keita and Fabinho remain our sole arrivals.

As neither Keita or Fabinho are in Russia with Guinea (who didn’t qualify) or Brazil (who didn’t pick him) respectively – they’ve got the whole summer to learn Jurgen Klopp’s methods.

The manager also has Virgil van Dijk, Alberto Andy Robertson, Loris Karius, Gini Wijnaldum and other first-teamers are his disposal from July 1, which will be beneficial for preparations.

We cannot wait to see the new boys in action. Fabinho will anchor the midfield with poise and power, while Keita is undeniably a special talent.
