Everton fans are scratching their heads at the minute, wondering why the club are paying a huge amount of money – £50 million no less – for Watford player Richarlison, who hasn’t done very much in the last six months, and could be an almighty transfer flop.
It seems as though it’s all because Marco Silva, who of course now manages Everton, got the best from him in their short time together – yet some people think there is an alternative motive here from both clubs.
Everton’s £50m for Richarlison gets them a player who last scored a goal for Watford on November 19, and didn’t supply an assist after December 12.
This is all based on three months under Marco Silva. It’s crackers.

Watford owner Gino Pozzo has played a blinder here. Signed Richarlison for £11m, has 10 good games, awful from October till end of the season. Sells him for £50m to former employer Marco Silva.

However, there could be a very good reason for that…
While we wait for clarification on the Richarlison fee, don’t be surprised if the Watford complaint for compensation over Silva disappears. Everton get their player and avoid protracted arbitration. Watford get an aesthetically-pleasing fee when it’s really a fee for both. #EFC

The move seems to have been confirmed by the Brazilian press, and while Everton are getting a player their manager knows and someone who could provide them with a much needed spark, it’s understandable that people are worried he could well just be another costly mistake.
Everton have certainly made a fair few in the past 12 months, and their summer spending last time out didn’t save them from a terrible start to the season – with things not really getting better past that point either, and their manager losing his job, Sam Allardyce coming in and the fans being very unhappy.
