Zdenek Zeman has claimed that this Roma side belongs to ‘no-one’ and hit out at Lazio for their lack of ambition.

Roma lost ‘bandieri’ Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi over the summer, and Zeman feels his former club have lost their identity, pointing the figure at “whereabouts unknown” President James Pallotta.

“I think they will [return], but there must be the right conditions,” he told Il Messaggero.

“Francesco had to say ‘enough’ because they used him only for advertising purposes.

“It’s sad that it ended like this because for years it was Totti’s Roma. Today it’s no-one’s Roma: the President’s whereabouts is unknown.

“I hope Francesco finds a role where he can have fun and play his part. I don’t see him as a Coach. Daniele, on the other hand, yes. He wants to become one.

“Pallotta hasn’t won over the fans yet because he sold the players with whom he would’ve won the Scudetto. It would’ve been easy with those champions.”

The Coach then had some words of warning for Paulo Fonseca, whose Giallorossi side are being plagued by injuries and are leaking goals.

“I watched the match against Atalanta live and I didn’t see any attacking football.

“Ukraine isn’t Italy and he’s changed their style of play a lot. When Di Francesco that, he then lost his job.

“They compared Fonseca to to me only because his teams concede so many goals.”

Finally, the Czech took aim at another of his previous clubs and their owner Claudio Lotito.

“He has little ambition, as do the fans. But Lazio are Lotito.”
