Real Madrid Affirmed his faith in the teenager
Zinedine Zidane took advantage of Real Madrid‘s pre-match press conference on Friday to settle the rumours about him having a lack of confidence in Vinicius Junior.
The Brazilian forward became a focal point of Los Blancos‘ attack under Santiago Solari, but an injury, followed by the dismissal of Solari and the appointment of Zidane, has seen the 19-year-old fail to replicate the form he showed at the start of 2019.
However, Zidane is keen to assure Madrid‘s supporters – and the media – that he does in fact trust and believe in Vinicius.
“I don’t have confidence in what?” Zidane responded.
“He has my complete confidence, I can guarantee that.
“He is 19 years old and will be the future of Madrid.
“Everything takes time and he’s doing the right things.
“But sometimes he’s not going to play because someone else is going to, that’s all. And every game will be like this.
“Stop saying this because he’s a good player, he’s in my plans and I have full confidence in him.”
So far this season, Vinicius has featured in 44 percent of the minutes from Madrid‘s first three LaLiga Santander matches.
After starting against Celta Vigo, where he played 69 minutes, he was a substitute in the clash with Real Valladolid, coming on for the last 33 minutes, and he had a 16-minute cameo away at Villarreal before the international break. Whilst away with Brazil, Vinicius played in the Selecao‘s 1-0 loss to Peru.
